Individualized Study Tutor

Athabasca University’s Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking a permanent Individualized Study Tutor for the following course(s):

PHYS 205 Physics for Scientists and Engineers II: http://www.athabascau.ca/syllabi/phys/phys205.php

PHYS 210 Conceptual Physics: http://www.athabascau.ca/syllabi/phys/phys210.php

This position is responsible for providing academic support to students and for marking assignments.

Qualifications and Experience Required:  Master’s Degree required (PhD preferred) in physics, astrophysics, or a closely related field.

Teaching experience at a post-secondary level is required.  Familiarity with distance education, adult education and Moodle online course delivery would be considered an asset.  All educational credentials must be recognized in Canada.

Along with the relevant academic credentials as mentioned above, this position requires excellent communication, organizational, administration and online skills.  The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, maintain accurate student records, and return students’ work promptly.  Candidates must own or have access to a computer and internet with the capability to communicate with the University and students and the capability to run any applications required to perform tutorial support.
