Athabasca University’s Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking a permanent Academic Expert / Marker for the following course(s):

MGSC 301: Management Science: Statistics for Business and Economics I: http://www.athabascau.ca/syllabi/mgsc/mgsc301.php

MGSC 312: Management Science: Statistics for Business and Economics II: http://www.athabascau.ca/syllabi/mgsc/mgsc312.php

This position is responsible for providing academic support to students and for marking assignments.

Qualifications and Experience Required: MBA or Master’s degree in a related field (PhD strongly preferred), with a strong background in business statistics, particularly sampling and sampling distributions, interval estimation, hypotheses testing, statistical inference about means, proportions, and variances, ANOVA, regression analysis, and nonparametric methods. 

Relevant professional and teaching experience plus proficiency with statistical software is required.  Experience with Moodle online course delivery and Lotus Notes is considered an asset.

Teaching experience at a post-secondary level is required.  Familiarity with distance education, adult education and Moodle online course delivery would be considered an asset.  All educational credentials must be recognized in Canada.

Along with the relevant academic credentials as mentioned above, this position requires excellent communication, organizational, administration and online skills.  The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, maintain accurate student records, and return students’ work promptly.  Candidates must own or have access to a computer and internet with the capability to communicate with the University and students and the capability to run any applications required to perform tutorial support.
