Individualized Study Tutor

Athabasca University’s Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking a term Individualized Study Tutor for the following course:

This position (July 1 – Dec 31, 2017) is responsible for providing academic support to students and for marking assignments.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

Master’s Degree required (Ph. D. strongly preferred) in the fields of French and/or Francophone literature and Culture, with a strong mastery of French language and Literary studies, and experience in teaching Literature courses and French language courses (from beginners’ level to advanced level) at the university level. The ideal candidate will also have expertise in French & Francophone literature from the 17st to the 21st century; familiarity with Children’s Literature (littérature jeunesse), Global Francophone literature, and French or Francophone cinema studies would be a definite asset. The candidate must be able to communicate well in French and in English.

Teaching experience at a post-secondary level is required.  Familiarity with distance education, adult education and Moodle online course delivery is a definite asset.  All educational credentials must be recognized in Canada.

Along with the relevant academic credentials as mentioned above, this position requires excellent communication, organizational, administration and online skills.  The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, maintain accurate student records, and return students’ work promptly.  Candidates must own or have access to a computer and internet with the capability to communicate with the University and students and the capability to run any applications required to perform tutorial support.
