Individualized Study Tutor

Athabasca University’s Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking an Individualized Study Tutor for the following course(s):

PSYC 200 Introduction to Career Development: http://www.athabascau.ca/syllabi/psyc/psyc200.php  

PSYC 300 Theories of Career Development: http://www.athabascau.ca/syllabi/psyc/psyc300.php  

PSYC 401 Learning Through Life: http://www.athabascau.ca/syllabi/psyc/psyc401.php

This position is responsible for providing academic support to students and for marking assignments and exams.

Qualifications and Experience Required:  A minimum of a Master’s Degree required (PhD preferred) in career development theory and practice, both general [broad-based] and specific [career-focused].  Degree credentials in psychology are preferred but applicants with degrees in other behavioural science disciplines will be considered.

Teaching experience at a post-secondary level is required.  Familiarity with distance education, adult education and Moodle online course delivery would be considered an asset.  All educational credentials must be recognized in Canada.

Along with the relevant academic credentials as mentioned above, this position requires excellent communication, organizational, administration and online skills.  The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, maintain accurate student records, and return students’ work promptly.  Candidates must own or have access to a computer and Internet with the capability to communicate with the University and students and the capability to run any applications required to perform tutorial support.  Please see http://itss.athabascau.ca/docs/virtualdesktop.htm for more information on computer and Internet connection requirements.
