Athabasca University’s Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking a permanent Academic Expert / Marker for the following course(s):

MGSC 369 Service Operations Management:

MGSC 368 Introduction to Production and Operations Management:

This position is responsible for providing academic support to students and for marking assignments.

Qualifications and Experience Required: MBA or a Master’s degree in a related field, PhD is preferred, with a strong background in service and operations management, particularly service strategy, growth and globalization of services, new service development, service supply relationships, and quality management, facility layout, capacity planning, facility location (both in services and manufacturing). Experience with Lotus Notes would be an asset.

Teaching experience at a post-secondary level is required.  Familiarity with distance education, adult education and Moodle online course delivery would be considered an asset.  All educational credentials must be recognized in Canada.

Along with the relevant academic credentials as mentioned above, this position requires excellent communication, organizational, administration and online skills.  The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, maintain accurate student records, and return students’ work promptly.  Candidates must own or have access to a computer and internet with the capability to communicate with the University and students and the capability to run any applications required to perform tutorial support.
