Athabasca University’s Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking an academic expert/marker for the following course:

COMP 470 Web Server Management:

This position is responsible for providing academic support to students and for marking assignments, including final portfolios.

Qualifications and Experience Required:  Master’s Degree required (PhD preferred) in the field of computing, computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related discipline.  Knowledge and experience of web server management, particularly using Apache web servers, is essential, and a good working knowledge of system and network management issues in general would be desirable. Experience in the computing industry is considered an asset.

Familiarity with distance education, adult education and Moodle online course delivery would be considered an asset.  All educational credentials must be recognized in Canada.

Along with the relevant academic credentials as mentioned above, this position requires excellent communication, organizational, administration and online skills.  The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, maintain accurate student records, and return students’ work promptly.  Candidates must own or have access to a computer and internet with the capability to communicate with the University and students and the capability to run any applications required to perform tutorial support.  Please see for more information on computer and internet connection requirements.
