Individualized Study Tutor

Athabasca University’s Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking an Individualized Study Tutor for the following course:

CRJS 425 White Collar Crime and Investigation: http://www.athabascau.ca/syllabi/crjs/crjs425.php

This position is responsible for providing academic support to students and for marking assignments.

Qualifications required: A minimum of a Master's (Doctoral degree preferred) in Law, Criminology, or other social sciences, and/or with experience in law enforcement, corrections, or social work.  Candidates should be familiar with the current issues and research on the topic of white collar crime. Preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience, with emphasis on experience in distance education and in criminal justice at a post-secondary institution.

Teaching experience at a post-secondary level is required.  Familiarity with distance education, adult education and Moodle online course delivery would be considered an asset.  All educational credentials must be recognized in Canada.

Along with the relevant academic credentials as mentioned above, this position requires excellent communication, organizational, administration and online skills.  The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, maintain accurate student records, and return students’ work promptly.  Candidates must own or have access to a computer and internet with the capability to communicate with the University and students and the capability to run any applications required to perform tutorial support.
