Athabasca University is hiring an Assistant Professor, Biology with expertise in Computational Biology.
This position will be responsible for the teaching, administration, and maintenance of courses in Biology, as well as the development of courses in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, and other course development related to faculty programs and priorities.
Coordination and teaching duties include handling student issues (grade appeals, course challenges, exam reviews, transfer credit requests, academic misconduct), assessment, and supervising a team of Academic Experts (AEs) who are responsible for assisting students and marking. Service to the Centre for Science, the Faculty of Science and Technology, and the broad university community through participation in meetings and committees is required.
The position will also be responsible for maintaining a research program in a relevant field, the supervision of research students, and participation in research-related activities and collaborations.
Qualifications:
- A PhD degree and post-doctoral experience in a relevant field is required. Experience in online learning and familiarity with digital technologies in teaching and research is an asset.
