This role is a new position, reporting to the Deputy CIO. The IT Licensing Specialist is primarily responsible for managing all the University’s IT related licensing, software maintenance agreements, hardware maintenance agreements, and cloud service agreements. This includes:

  • Research
  • Recommendations
  • Arranging purchase
  • License allocation
  • Regular review
  • Renewals
  • Compliance

The IT Licensing Specialist will work closely with AU staff and contractors to understand the business requirements, and determine the best solutions for these requirements. She/he will help in removing the distinction between enterprise and divisional IT and improve fiscal accountability and sustainability around software licensing and IT maintenance agreements.

  • Related 2 year diploma, recognized in Canada
  • 4 years of IT license, maintenance, and cloud subscription management experience.
  • Solid understanding of IT licensing, agreements, and subscriptions.
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Strong organization and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adhere to deadlines.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.


  • Experience with Microsoft licensing agreements.
  • Experience with Oracle licensing agreements.
  • Experience with AWS licensing.
