Athabasca University’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) offers Masters’ and Doctoral Degrees in Education as well as Graduate Certificates and Diplomas in Education. The Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in FHSS invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor, Education Innovation, commencing September 1, 2019. This is a full-time position located in Alberta. Athabasca University is a fully-accredited, comprehensive academic and research post-secondary institution with a commitment to facilitating open access to education. Athabasca is a fully online university, and all teaching is online.

The ideal candidate will have an Ed. D. or PhD in Education / Educational Technologies and will have a record of teaching in online and/or blended learning environments, experience in supervision at the graduate level, and a demonstrated interest in education innovation and research in areas related to technology-enabled learning, digital transformation, and emerging technologies and pedagogies in education. Subject-matter expertise should cover digital education, education technology, and/or education innovation, including online educational research methods. Recent experience in higher education teaching and learning innovation will be a definite asset. The candidate will show evidence of research productivity through peer-reviewed publications and/or successful research grant applications. The candidate will be expected to teach and revise existing graduate courses and develop new courses as determined by the requirements of program development and their research interests. The candidate may also have the opportunity to coordinate, teach and revise existing undergraduate courses in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. All faculty members are expected to participate in administrative committees, including those pertaining to centre, faculty, or university-wide endeavours. Additionally, members are expected to participate in service to the greater external community.
