Athabasca University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is currently recruiting for the position of Academic Coordinator, Psychology. 

Please note this is a temporary part-time (0.2 FTE) position ending in June 2023 and the salary for this role will be pro-rated to a 0.2 FTE

The Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the teaching, administration and maintenance of Athabasca University's: EDPY/PSYC 469, PSYC 365 and PSYC 418 courses.

Coordinator duties include supervising and monitoring the performance of course tutors (who teach and consult with students and mark their assignments), the handling of student issues as they are brought forward by students, tutors, or the institution (e.g. grade appeals, course credit challenges, academic misconduct cases, transfer credit requests), placing students with supervisors for PSYC 418, and service to the Centre for Social Sciences (e.g. attending meetings held by the Centre and by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences).

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Master's degree in Psychology or related field (e.g. neuroscience) is required; a PhD is preferred.
  • Expertise in behavioural modification, psychological assessment and student research placement.
  • Special knowledge in the following fields would be a definite asset: behavioural modification and psychological assessment. 
  • Experience in distance learning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies would also be preferred assets.
