This is a full time (1.0 FTE) tenure-track appointment located within the province of Alberta.


The Faculty of Business, Athabasca University is seeking a new Assistant Professor in Indigenous Business. Candidates should have a doctorate (or in a doctoral program) and background focused on Indigenous Business specializing in either accounting/finance or leadership/human resources management or marketing/ entrepreneurship areas as well as have business experience within an Indigenous nation and community. Our faculty is looking for someone with a combination of demonstrated teaching and research potential, industry/management experience and the ability to contribute to a collegial culture. In addition, a keen interest in, and commitment to teaching and working in online environment is needed.

The Assistant Professor will be expected to teach, coordinate, and revise introductory and senior Indigenous Business courses. In addition, s/he will also contribute to the ongoing development of the Faculty of Business’ B.Comm major in Indigenous Business as well as develop new graduate level content and supervise graduate level research students. As Indigenous Business is multi-disciplinary, the incumbent will be invited to collaborate with faculty scholars in other business disciplines when revising courses in the B.Comm major.

Our Indigenous Business major will contain content based upon traditional Indigenous teachings, and academic disciplines. Candidates with experience in Indigenous governance, leadership, accounting and financial services, human resources management, marketing, or entrepreneurship and experience working with Indigenous nations and communities will be especially competitive in this process.
