As part of the Digital Transformation portfolio the role of Sr Business Analyst is focused on building the business process management in support of current and new system delivery. It drives to interpret strategic and operational direction into business process change – both for academic and administrative processes, as well as digital systems. It is a fundamental role in bridging new operational processes, digital automation, and change management through the oversight of the business process framework and related inventories.

As the senior BA role at AU, the individual is also responsible for proposing and implementing the systems and standards necessary for requirements gathering and management, business process engineering, and related processes in support to initiatives realizing the IMAGINE: Transforming Lives, Transforming Communities and its sub-plan, RISE: Athabasca University’s Digital Transformation, Our 5-Year IT Strategy.

In addition, this role works alongside other business analysts to elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of project stakeholders. This includes interviewing stakeholders and gathering and compiling user requirements to convey to development teams throughout the software lifecycle. This Business Analyst will also apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help support the development process, and to ensure that project deliverables are met according to specifications.

In terms of impact, every major IT project closure report and lessons learned over the past few years has identified the consistent lack of business analysis, requirements management, and business process review as a major hurdle or fail point to their success.
