Athabasca University's Centre for Science in the Faculty of Science and Technology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Applied Mathematics, commencing September 2021. Athabasca University is a fully-accredited, post-secondary institution with a commitment to facilitating open access to education.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, supplemented by a benefits package.



The successful candidate will have a PhD in Mathematics (or an applied field of mathematics) with an active research program in their field of expertise. The candidate will be expected to coordinate, teach and revise existing courses from the Applied Mathematics program, and to contribute to its development through the design of new courses as determined by the needs of the program and the candidate's research and teaching interests. The ideal candidate will have expertise in mathematics software and/or programming languages and will provide integrated and practical training using such technologies within their courses. Evidence of teaching excellence is required, and familiarity with online systems of course delivery and distance education is preferred.  The successful candidate will also be expected to serve on University Committees. All educational credentials of the successful candidate must be recognized in Canada.
