The Desktop Support Technician is responsible for maintaining optimum levels of hardware and software performance for AU’s end user computing devices, primarily Windows and Apple desktops and laptops. This includes the setup, deployment, replacement, and recovery of AU end user IT devices, as well as troubleshooting related issues.

Reporting to the Manager, IT Services & Support and working collectively as part of this team, the role will contribute to providing the reliable end user computing equipment that the AU community requires.

The resumption of the evergreening program to periodically replace end user IT equipment exceeds the current staff complement’s capacity to setup, deploy, replace, and recover equipment within established service standards. This new position fills that capacity gap.

If you have a passion for computers, helping others use technology more effectively, and solving technology problems, join our Alberta-based Information Technology team as our Desktop Support Technician. As Canada’s only digital-first university, join us in transforming traditional online learning to the secure cloud and code campus of the future.

The vibrant town of Athabasca is located in the heart of Alberta’s boreal forest on the banks of the Athabasca River. The community offers modern services, affordable housing, excellent public schools, and a variety of recreational activities to suit everyone’s lifestyle.
