Athabasca University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is recruiting for an Academic Coordinator, Human Services.
This is a part time (0.2 FTE) term position ending 2027.

The Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the teaching, administration and maintenance of Athabasca University's HSRV 201 (Social Work and Human Services), HSRV 306 (Critical Reflection for Practice), and HSRV 489 (Capstone: A Synthesis of Program Learning Outcomes). Other Coordinator duties include supervising and monitoring the performance of course tutors (who teach and mark student assignments), the handling of student issues as they are brought forward by students, tutors, or the institution (e.g. grade appeals, course credit challenges, academic misconduct cases, transfer credit requests), and service to the Centre for Social Sciences, (e.g. attending meetings held by the Centre and by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences).
Qualifications
Athabasca University is hiring an academic coordinator with expertise in social work, human services, and equivalent fields. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. and a current professional designation as a social worker or psychologist are preferred. We are seeking a candidate with fluency in issues relating to social justice, decolonization, histories of colonization, and considerations for how best to respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action. Experience in distance learning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies would also be preferred assets.
