Athabasca University's Office of the Registrar is recruiting for a permanent, full-time Student Financial Aid Support. 

This is a place-based role on-campus in Athabasca. 

First consideration will be given to internal applicants according to the AUPE Collective Agreement, Article 11.02

The Position 

This position is an integral part of the Student Financial Aid team and requires regular on-site presence to support the daily operations of the unit. The role is responsible for the timely receipt, processing, management, and distribution of student financial aid documentation, requiring direct access to physical records, incoming mail, secure files, office equipment, and other operational resources that are only available in the workplace.

The position provides administrative and operational support to the Student Financial Aid team, assisting with document management, workflow coordination, and other day-to-day functions that contribute to the efficient delivery of financial aid services. Regular in-office presence enables timely processing of documentation, immediate response to operational needs, and effective collaboration with team members on matters requiring in-person coordination.

Maintaining an on-site presence also supports the secure handling of confidential student information and ensures compliance with institutional policies and provincial student financial aid requirements while maintaining efficient and consistent service delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a two-year post-secondary diploma plus three years administrative experience. Preference will be given to those who have previous Student Financial Aid experience in a post-secondary environment. An equivalent combination of education/experience may be considered.
  • An excellent understanding of institutional policy and procedures as they relate to the Financial Aid unit.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for contact with internal staff (academic, professional, etc.) and external institutions staff and faculty, via in-person, phone, email, written communications, etc. 
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner designed to resolve conflict.
  • Ability to think clearly and logically and search for solutions.
  • Knowledge of computers, experience with a computerized information system, a word processing system and electronic mail.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and administrative skills required.
  • Capacity to adapt to high volumes of work in accordance with ever-changing diverse and complex policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as being a good team player.
