Anticipated Workload: 100% Academic Expert workload allocation and Marking Approximately 15-25 students. Approx. 3-7 hrs per week

Athabasca University's Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking an Academic Expert Marker for the following course:

COMP 457 – Advanced Artificial Intelligence: Link to Syllabus

Qualifications and Experience Required:  A minimum of a Master's degree required (PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related area.

The successful candidate must possess strong subject matter expertise in advanced artificial intelligence techniques, including computer vision, natural language processing, classical machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI. The candidate must have excellent programming skills in Python and familiarity with Python libraries and frameworks for machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and deep learning, such as OpenCV, scikit-image, scikit-learn, Hugging Face Transformers, NLTK, spaCy, PyTorch, Keras, and TensorFlow. Teaching experience at the post-secondary level, as well as experience with distance learning, digital teaching technologies, and online course delivery, is preferred. Experience with adult education and Brightspace online course delivery is considered an asset. Responsibilities for this position include providing academic and programming support to students, marking assignments, and calculating and recording final grades.

Along with the relevant academic credentials as mentioned above, this position requires excellent communication, organizational, administration and online/computer skills.  The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, maintain accurate student records, and return students' work promptly and within the University's required service standards.  Candidates must own or have access to a computer and internet with the capability to communicate with the University and students and the capability to run any applications required to perform tutorial support.

Non-doctoral prepared employees: $31.01 per hour.  

Doctoral prepared employees: $32.24 per hour.
