Athabasca University's Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking an Individualized Study Tutor for the following courses ending February 15, 2027:

CJRS 385 - Policing: Link to Syllabus

CJRS 480 - Corrections and Penology - Link to Syllabus

Qualifications and Experience Required:

A minimum of a Master's degree is required (PhD preferred) in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Law, or a closely related discipline.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated subject matter expertise in criminal justice administration, policing, corrections, justice policy, governance, and comparative criminal justice systems. The successful candidate will provide academic assistance to students, mark assignments, and assign and record final grades. Post-secondary teaching experience is required. Experience in distance learning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies and online course delivery is preferred. Experience with adult education and Brightspace online course delivery is considered an asset.

In addition to the relevant academic credentials noted above, this position requires excellent communication, organizational, administrative, and computer skills. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to maintain high academic standards, maintain accurate student records, and return student work promptly in accordance with the University's service standards. Candidates must own or have access to a computer and reliable internet service sufficient to communicate with the University and students and to operate the applications required for tutorial support.

Non-doctoral prepared employees: $265.81 prorated per block, per biweekly pay.

Doctoral-prepared employees: $276.44 prorated per block, per biweekly pay.
