Athabasca University's Faculty of Business invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant/Associate Professor, Accounting.

This is a full-time position located in Alberta.

About the Faculty:

The Faculty of Business is a major, AACSB-accredited business school in Canada. We offer dynamic programs at the Bachelor's, Master's, Postgraduate Diploma, and Doctoral levels. Our faculty is dedicated to supporting students, the business community, and society through outstanding, innovative, and accessible business education.

The Position:

We welcome candidates from all areas of Accounting, with a particular interest in applicants whose research focuses on contemporary accounting issues. We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests complement and expand our existing departmental strengths.

Your role will span three core academic areas:

  • Teaching: Take full responsibility for course delivery, design, and curriculum development. Lead and collaborate with support staff, including tutors, markers, instructors, and seminar leaders, to ensure student success.
  • Research: Maintain active currency in the accounting discipline through original empirical research, high-quality peer-reviewed publications, editorials, and referee work.
  • Service: Contribute actively to university governance through councils and committees and share professional expertise with the wider community and public agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A PhD or DBA in Accounting (or near completion).
  • Designation: A professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA or international equivalent).
  • Experience: Relevant professional or industry experience, alongside a strong, proven track record of teaching effectiveness.
  • Research Track Record: An active research profile with demonstrated ability or clear potential to publish high-quality, peer-reviewed accounting research.
  • Preferred Asset: Demonstrated experience utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching methodologies, course design, or curriculum development.
